Geist Upgradeable PDUs adapt to your business well into the future. Simply choose the functionality that suits your requirements today with the flexibility to install technology as needs evolve.
To establish this extraordinary upgrade path, Geist incorporated an Interchangeable Monitoring Device (IMD) into its robust PDU design. Geist’s rugged power strips last for years and with the new IMD users can install the latest technology without replacing the power strip. The hot-swappable IMD can be changed in a few simple steps without interrupting power to critical servers.
With remote power monitoring, data center managers can receive notifications of current threshold breach, preventing unnecessary downtime. Data from the unit can be accessed through any Web browser, without requiring external software. Data can be integrated into Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) systems for remote notification, and the intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) allows managers to quickly access pertinent information.
IMD-02XV (Vertical) or IMD-02XH (Horizontal)
The IMD device delivers a comprehensive view of power usage in a data center. It is a hot-swappable replacement or upgrade solution allowing new technology to be applied as it is developed. The IMD offers on-board and web power monitoring display options with quick access to the unit’s current, volts, real power, apparent power, power factor and kilowatt hours.
IMD-02EV (Vertical) or IMD-02EH (Horizontal)
The Interchangeable Monitoring Device + Remote Sensing delivers a comprehensive view of power usage and environmental conditions in a data center. To be used with the modular design of the Upgradeable PDU, it is a hot-swappable replacement or upgrade solution allowing new technology to be applied as it is developed. The unit’s environmental sensor port gives data center managers the ability to track critical climate variables like temperature, airflow, humidity and dew point with the use of a Geist remote sensor.
Utlizing VLC, the rack PDU offers a wide range of phase and circuit level information made available on a handheld device using the Geist App. This is a one-of-a-kind metered PDU offering such a high level of granularity. This information is typically only available on the unit's web interface or via software provided the device settings and IP address were configured. No prior configuration is required to access this data over VLC nor is any physical connection required. With a quick scan, power consumption is available to those who have physical access to the rack and want a quick summary of the unit. This allows users to capture critical data without any dependence on network infrastructure, as there is no need for a network connection or IP address, which greatly diminishes any security concerns. VLC comes standard and the Geist App is readily available via Apple Store. Coming soon on Google Play.
Geist’s Monitored PDU’s help users keep an eye on remote conditions from a secure web interface. The web interface provides an overview of your environment using real time data. Monitored PDU’s have flexible access rights and security settings with up to three access account levels for easy integration into existing user access management procedures. It offers secure access through the web and supports HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
Read power data easily in dimly lit areas.
Add, remove, or switch Interchangeable Monitoring Device (IMD) without interrupting power to critical servers.
Geist’s Monitored PDU’s can trigger escalating alarms if temperatures, or other environmental variables fall outside a specified parameter. Receive SNMP, email to text message alert notifications when user-adjustable thresholds are exceeded.
Allows data center managers to accurately reconcile power usage.
Simplifies intelligent PDU connectivity and ensures data is reported, even with a break in the chain.
This feature, which is available starting with firmware version 2.2.1, uses Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). RSTP provides fault tolerance, automatic detection and recovery of network faults. Upon detecting a fault, RSTP automatically reconfigures the network to use an alternate path and maintain connectivity for the remaining PDUs. It also provides the ability to perform maintenance on a single PDU without disrupting monitoring of other PDUs in the chain.

Geist’s low profile breakers reduce the PDU depth by over 40% compared to traditional breakers. The slimmer design protects against electrical overloads and allows the PDUs to be easily installed in data center cabinets with limited space.
Geist offers low profile breakers as a standard feature on select basic and intelligent PDU configurations. Customers may choose to incorporate the smaller breaker design on applicable custom PDU orders.
Geist offers IEC C13 and C19 receptacles with an integrated locking feature built within the receptacle housing. The locking mechanism is protected against vibration and external elements that can easily dislodge external locking clips or guides. This self-contained locking mechanism works with any standard IEC plug. Locking receptacles come standard on some units and are available for custom orders.
Geist offers colored chassis options to help data center personnel easily identify the input feed of each PDU, helping create proper load balancing of attached equipment and minimizing error that could lead to accidental downtime.
